Intercooling:
Copyrighted INTERCOOLING systems are in the works and should be available by the end of the year. Until then, we ARE able to retrofit an intercooler at an additional cost. Intercooling will offer at least a 25% increase in power gains, as charge temperatures will be reduced from 165 degrees to 95 degrees! A cooler charge is a denser charge (more Oxygen molecules per cubic foot).
We have reconfigured this kit, so the images you see do NOT reflect latest component locations. No cutting or splicing on ANY 5v (electronic) circuits!!! Also, no chance for water ingestion! Ram-Air can also be adapted!
Custom tuning is provided by Apten Performance.
On the dyno the
truck achieved 127 HP @ 4200RPM when the rev-limiter kicked in without the
supercharger. After the supercharger was installed this increased to 176 HP @
4200RPM at the rear wheels. On a stock Ford F-150 V6 you
should get 164 RWHP N/A, and 249 RWHP Supercharged. Taking these numbers
mathematically will give you 300+ HP at the crank.
Approximately 248HP a the rear
wheels, therefore making the V6 perform approximately 5% better than a stock
Mustang GT 4.6L V8!
Apten tuning will ensure much higher gains. The numbers posted above used a standard Superchips blower application. Apten generates CUSTOM tuning.
Test Drive
After completion of the dyno runs and critical stress tests we took the truck on
a 2,500mile test drive (non-stop). The truck ran great. From the drivers
experience there is a major increase in the drivability of the truck. Not only
do you notice an increase in high end power, the truck seems to be more RPM
efficient at all speeds. The charger becomes most noticeable during hard
acceleration, primarily between the 60-140KMH range. Never before has a V6 truck
been able to cruise at 120KMH then accelerate to 160 in just a couple of
seconds.
Revisions have been made to the intake duct configuration. The
air filter will mount in the stock location, and DOES lend itself to RAM-AIR!
